Consider the “Second Chance Programme” from the Department of Education. The Second Chance Programme was created to support learners who have not completed the requirements for a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or the extended Senior Certificate (SC) and gives them another chance to complete their matric. Anyone  who wants to improve their matric results, no matter how long ago they wrote matric, anyone who failed matric and wants a redo their matric examination or anyone  who left school after passing Grade 9 (then Standard 7), is 21 years or older, and wishes to obtain their matric should consider taking part in this programme. Joining the program gives learners access to learning materials and learning tools. Lessons are available on SABC 3, DStv and Openview (Channel 122), and in 2022, the program aired two days a week.

Alternatively, you can visit the office of Department of Basic education or office of any Provincial Education Department to obtain the necessary application forms. You will need at least the following documents:

1. Identity Document
2. Statement of results or matric certificate
3. School reports are required for those who left school before matric
